Painted Tin-Glazed Earthenware Plate Body Sherd

(1600 - 1800)

One buff-bodied tin-glazed earthenware plate body sherd with thick white tin glaze on both surfaces. The interior is painted with a paneled floral or swirl pattern in a dark blue. The floral pattern is within a painted panel decoration, similar to Wan-li style panels, or possibly English in origin. There are similar sherds in a neighboring context that do not mend but might be from the same vessel.
