Stoneware Crucible Base Sherd

One thick-bodied ceramic base sherd from a Hessian crucible. The sherd is likely made of a crude stoneware. The crucible has a flat, rounded base with spots of reddish-brown colored glaze on the exterior or more likely damage from manufacturing use. The interior has thick encrusted debris and is heavily stained from use.
