Underglaze Painted Porcelain Plate Rim Sherd

(Early 19th Century)

One Chinese export porcelain plate rim sherd with a sloppy blue underglaze painted decoration. Possibly a Nanking-ware from the early 19th century. Rim has a fish roe diaper pattern with a repeating blue trellis band beneath. Plate is most likely octagonal with a very subtly trimmed rim. Sherd is most likely a residual from plate in same neighboring context, but does not mend to vessel.
