Fluted and Painted Tin-Glazed Earthenware Dish

(1600 - 1800)

Twelve base, body and rim sherds from a tin-glazed (delft) dish with a thick white glaze and a dark blue painted motif on the interior. The body is fluted and the rim has a very subtle scallop, although not much of the rim remains. The painted interior pattern has botanical elements and is possibly a variant of the birds on rock motif that is often seen in Chinese Export porcelain. The dish consists of ten sherds that mend but are not mended and one sherd that does not mend but is likely from the same vessel.
