Gilded Chinese Porcelain Rim Sherd

(1765 - 1810)

One very small rim sherd from a Chinese-export porcelain teacup or saucer with gilded decoration visible on one surface. The interior is decorated with a gilded band that follows the line along the top of the rim, and a wavy band beneath it. The decoration is most likely European Neo-Classical style. Much of the gilded decoration has worn off.
