Underglaze Painted Chinese Porcelain Plate Base/Body/Rim Sherd

(1722 - 1800)

One Chinese Export porcelain plate base/body/rim sherd with a blue underglaze painted decoration. The central motif is encircled by a very sloppily painted blue spearhead diaper pattern. The rim has very small cluster of fish roe below a flower and between a shaded floral and leaf motif. Additional decoration on the central motif cannot be determined, but is shaded and most likely is a pavilion landscape decoration. The base has an unglazed, undercut footring. The rim is subtly trimmed and is most likely octagonal in shape. The sherd has moderate organic staining from the deposition.
