Underglaze Painted Chinese Porcelain Plate Rim Sherd

(Early 19th Century)

One rim sherd from a Chinese Export porcelain plate with a sloppy blue underglaze painted decoration. Possibly a Nanking-ware from the early 19th century. The rim has a fish roe diaper pattern with a repeating floral band beneath. The plate is most likely octagonal with a very subtly trimmed rim. The sherd is most likely a residual from a plate in the neighboring context but does not mend to that vessel.
