Underglaze Painted Pearlware Base/Body Sherd

(1775 - 1810)

A large pearlware pedestal base from a hollowware vessel with an underglaze painted line around the pedestal foot. This sherd is possibly the base to the painted pitcher or vase sherds in the same context but it does not mend to that vessel. The foot measures to 4.75 inches in diameter. There is some rust staining and general discoloration from the privy deposit. There is obvious use-wear on the edge of the foot. Consists of two sherds that mend but are not mended.
