White granite rim sherd from a flatware vessel. Makers mark stamped just under rim on exterior. The mark consists of a circle with writing and press design in center. The circle is composed of 4 concentric lines with a laurel leaf wreath encircling the circles. The full mark reads "Porcelain a la Francaise" // Ridgway (?), this was registered in 1844 by John Ridgway (see Weatherbee 1996:13,18.) There is at least one other vessel with a Ridgway mark in the SV collection.
