Stamped "Alcantara Cross" Smoking Pipe Heel and Bowl

(1686 - 1705)

One smoking pipe bowl fragment with a round heel. The interior is slightly grayed from smoking. The base of the heel is stamped with an "Alcantara Cross" beneath the initials "BI". The mark is thought to be Dutch (Gouda) in origin by pipe maker Bastiaan Janse van Owerwesel and in production between 1686 to 1705.
