Painted Tin-Glazed Earthenware Tableware Rim Sherd

(1600 - 1800)

One very thick buff-bodied rim sherd from a tableware vessel such as a plate, platter, or dish with white tin glaze on the interior and exterior surfaces. The rim is molded with scalloping or a similar type of molded decoration. The interior is decorated with multiple blue lines that follow the shape of the rim, and an unknown, more elaborate central motif that includes some fine cross-hatching. The exterior has no visible decoration. The sherd is probably French in origin.
