Painted Tin-Glazed Earthenware Tableware Base Sherd

(1600 - 1800)

One buff-bodied tin-glazed earthenware base sherd with a wide rounded footring. The footring has some evidence of use-wear. Both surfaces have a thick white glaze. The interior is painted with a floral pattern in blue. There are traces of what appears to be gilding or some type of overglaze painting over the blue decoration. The sherd also has molded ridges or fluting on the exterior body, but the exact pattern is unknown due to the amount remaining. The sherd is likely from a plate, dish, or similar tableware vessel.
