This rim sherd was part of a plain white granite "muffin" plate. When whole, this plate's diameter would have measured about 17cm or about 6 1/2 inches. An unidentifiable impressed maker's mark can be seen on its base, the end of two words read "AL" and "ONE", possibly the ending letters of "Royal" and "Ironstone." Ironstone is one of the names under which some white granite wares were sold.
