One white granite rim sherd from a flatware vessel with a scalloped rim. The exterior bears a blue printed Ridgway & Morley makers mark near the rim. The words "Ridgway" and "Improv... and Granit…" can be seen within the mark, which also contains an illustration of the pottery factory where this object was produced, featuring the bottle-shaped kilns in which ceramics were fired. Because makers' marks changed frequently, this particular helps to pinpoint the date this object was manufactured to between 1842 and 1844.
