One English Brown salt-glazed stoneware base and handle sherd from a mug or tankard. The exterior is salt glazed with thick brown mottling and brown iron oxide slip. The paste is a gray-color. There are four bands of cordoning around the base. The tankard has a partial handle terminal with a thumb-impressed base. The mottled slip does not extend to the bottom of the tankard and ends prior to the bottom handle terminal. Similar tankards have been found within the same context but they do not mend and are likely not from the same vessel.
