RT and Evans Smoking Pipe Heel and Bowl Rim

(1698 - 1713)

One mended white ball clay smoking pipe stem and bowl rim. The bowl has a plain rim and a circular cartouche on the right side that reads "EVA/NS". The back of the bowl is stamped with the initials "RT." The makers may possibly be from Isaac Evans and Robert Tippet II and manufactured in Bristol. Double maker's marks on pipes suggest a partnership. The interior of the bowl is blackened from smoking damage and there are visible chips on the rim from ash extraction. The pipe has a squashed plain circular heel. The pipe bowl consists of two mended/glued fragments.
