Painted English Tin-Glazed Earthenware Body/Rim Sherd

(1690 - 1780)

One thick tin-glazed body/rim sherd from a straight-sided hollowware vessel. The body is glazed with a light robin's egg blue-colored glaze and the exterior is painted with light blue painted decoration outlined in a darker cobalt blue. The edge of the rim has some light wear. The exterior has a painted decoration, possibly a geometric decoration although it is too fragmentary to determine. Beneath the rim, along the exterior, there are two thin blue painted lines. The sherd is possibly from a cup, mug, bowl or similar type of vessel. Possibly English in origin.
