Overglaze Enamel Painted Chinese Porcelain Teapot Stand

(ca. 1760)

One rim fragment of a lobed octagonal teapot stand made of Chinese porcelain. The base is unglazed but has traces of sand or chips embedded in the paste and the exterior surface is undecorated. The interior surface is quite ornate and completely covered with an overglaze enamel famille rose decoration consisting of gilding, diapers, a starburst border, clusters of starbursts, and birds on branches. The design on the face may consist of an interior scene or figures.
