One Chinese porcelain rim sherd with a wavy edge. May be part of a shallow bowl or saucer. The body is fairly white and finely decorated with a blue painted underglaze design consisting of a diaper border, butterfly, fish roe motif and an intricate floral and geometric decoration. Approximately 1/4 inch below the rim are two raised ridges, which show traces of gilding. This pattern was used for the Cincinnati service ca. 1785. Likely part of the same vessel as sherds 249.57, 256.99, 256.41, and 256.138.
