Underglaze Painted Chinese Porcelain Jug

(ca. 1755)

Approximately a quarter of a Chinese porcelain hollowware vessel consisting of five base, body and rim sherds. Mended to form a small, bulbous, pear-shaped container such as a jug. May also be a cruet. The rim is fitted for a lid and is unglazed. The body is very white and decorated with a blue painted underglaze design on the exterior surface featuring a terrace scene with a house or bridge, trees, rocks, and people.
