One pearlware rim and body sherd decorated with an underglaze painted green molded shell edge around the shoulder of the vessel. The decoration is on the exterior surface, about 11/16 inch below the rim. Similar to some Wedgwood wares. There is some discoloration on the glaze and paste, which may be from burning or a privy. Mends with sherd 256.28 but is not joined. Also part of the same vessel as sherd 279.527. From a hollowware vessel such as a bowl, pot, or pitcher. Possibly burned during the Great Fire of 1835 in New York City.
