Ribbed Creamware Body Sherd

(1762 - 1820)

One fairly thick creamware body sherd from a hollowware vessel such as a bowl or pot. There is some discoloration on the glaze and paste, which may be from burning or a privy. The exterior surface of the body is decorated with lathe turned barrel ribs that are 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch apart. Likely part of the same vessel as sherds 256.151, 311.6, 210.76, 230.62, 230.70, 230.26, 230.47, 230.54, 230.4, 230.21, and 230.14. Possibly burned during the Great Fire of 1835 in New York City.
