Printed Whiteware Body Sherds

Two flow blue transfer printed whiteware body sherds from a flatware vessel. A maker's mark on the reverse of one sherd shows Davenport's name poised above the very faint outline of their signature anchor. This vessel used the "Amoy" pattern, likely created by Davenport of Longport, Staffordshire between 1828 and 1887. This series depicted a Chinoiserie design featuring two women seated beneath a parasol. Remnants of a tree and flower remain visible on one sherd while the other only sports a portion of unidentifiable foliage.
