Teapot lid, 4"diam. painted green, tan and brown floral sprays around the rim. This same floral spray also occurred with PW Pattern 101. Painter's tally mark of three dots in a triangle on the underside of the lid. Assigned Vessel Number 47. Tag from MTA Exhibit reads: "6. Pearlware teapot lid hand painted in polychrome colors. This type of English earthenware was very popular in the early 19th century. This vessel was part of a group of vessels apparently damaged in their cross-Atlantic shipping and consequently dumped into the fill of Whitehall Slip rather than offered for sale. This type of decoration was popular between 1795 and 1820; part of Whitehall Slip was filled in ca. 1824."
