Archaeological work completed between 2004 and 2005 as part of a large scale construction of a subway infrastructure project in Battery Park and the adjacent area uncovered segments of the 18th-century defensive Battery, resources associated with Whitehall Slip, and 17th to 20th-century artifacts. The archaeological collection is within the NYC Archaeological Repository and there is a display about the discoveries which include a portion of the 18th-century Battery Wall that was found in Castle Clinton in Battery Park and another segment is within the South Ferry Subway Station.
