Overglaze Enamel Painted "Imari Style" Chinese Porcelain Body/Rim Sherd

(1695 - 1793)

One body sherd and one rim sherd from a Chinese Export porcelain hollowware vessel, likely a teacup or bowl. The rim is slightly everted or flared and has a brown wash along the edge. The exterior is decorated with floral decoration in blue underglaze painting with red overglaze and gilt. The interior is decorated with blue underglaze painting with a thick painted blue line below the interior rim and a smaller line beneath it. The interior body sherd has additional decoration in an indeterminate pattern within a double concentric circle. This decoration is typical of Imari-style Chinese porcelain. The sherds do not mend but are likely from the same vessel.
