Unidentified Writing Implements

Two broken cylindrical rods of varying lengths comprised of an unidentified material, possibly from some type of unknown writing implement. One rod has partially stamped or incised lettering which reads "LOND....", most likely LONDON. The same rod has a crudely finished flat end, while the smaller one is broken on both ends. The fragments are blackened which may be from burning or from a specific material type. Possibly a slate pencil handle or similar type of writing implement. Fragments of similar types of rods were found in neighboring contexts throughout Lot 14. The fragments do not mend but are likely from the same object.
