RT Smoking Pipe Stem and Bowl Rim

(1660 - 1713)

One almost complete white ball clay smoking pipe stem and bowl. The bowl has a plain rim and a worn cartouche on the right side which possibly reads "I-R / TIP / ET." The back of the bowl is stamped with the initials "RT." The interior of the bowl is heavily blackened from smoking damage. The pipe may be attributed to Joan Tippet (ca. 1680-1700), widow of Robert Tippet and mother of Robert Tippet II, but the pipe cartouche is too worn to definitely determine this assumption.
