Painted Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug

One large mended gray bodied salt glazed stoneware jug comprised of base and body sherds. The glaze is missing from several areas of the exterior surface. The interior is unglazed and varies in color from gray to red, possibly due to the adherence of rust. There are traces of a cobalt (blue) painted decoration on the exterior. The base diameter is 6 1/4 inches and the height is 16 1/2 inches.
