Painted Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug

One mended upper portion of a salt glazed stoneware jug comprised of body and rim sherds with an intact handle embellished with raised ridges. The exterior surface is gray with some discoloration in areas, possibly due to burning or iron staining. There is a curvilinear cobalt (blue) painted decoration applied underneath a glaze on the neck and shoulder area where the handle attaches to the body. Pieces of heavily patinated glass are adhered to the handle and mouth. The interior surface is unglazed and gray in color with a reddish tint, likely from underfiring. The rim diameter of the jug is approximately 1 inch. The diameter of the shoulder is approximately 6 inches.
