One cup or bowl rim sherd made of Chinese porcelain. The interior surface has a painted blue underglaze decoration featuring a cross-hatched design and oxhead border around the interior rim. There is a brown painted line atop the surface of the rim. Known as a brown washed or brown dressed rim, this treatment was applied beginning around the 1630's to strengthen vessel rims and thin out fragile glaze.
