Incised Banded American Salt-Glazed Stoneware Body Sherd

(19th Century)

One burnt, gray bodied American salt glazed stoneware body sherd from a hollowware vessel. Likely burned during the Great Fire of 1835 in New York City. The interior surface is coated with a brown Albany slip. There is an incised band decoration on the exterior surface.
