This context (Catalog #81: Lot 12, Test Cut F, Stratum 6, Level a) consists of artifacts found within a seven-inch-thick deposit of tan sand located in the northwest corner of Test Cut F in the southern portion of Lot 12. The deposit yielded very low densities of cultural material. Although the deposit was only recognized in the northwest corner of the test cut during excavation, profile drawings and photographs indicate that it was also present in thin lenses in the north and west walls of the test cut. A builder’s trench, which was likely created for the installation of a stone wall for the Verplanck House, was dug through this deposit of tan fine sand.
