Smoking Pipe Stem and Bowl Rim

(ca. 1850 - ca. 1910)

One smoking pipe stem and bowl rim made of white ball clay. There is an elaborate scene on the front of the bowl depicting a meeting among three soldiers wearing hats typical of those documented during the Civil War. Two of the men are shaking hands, suggesting a possible peace agreement. Dots and leaves also decorate the exterior surfaces of the bowl and stem. The interior surface of the bowl is blackened from use. The bore hole diameter is 6/64 inches.
