Slip Decorated Earthenware Tankard or "Cann"

Highly unusual late-17th-century slip decorated earthenware "cann" or tankard spattered or speckled with blue and white slip under a colorless lead glaze manufactured in the late-18th century. Wheel-thrown and lathe-trimmed with multiple reeded bands below the rim and above the base. A strap handle with a "squab" terminal is visible on the center sherd. Other examples have been found at Jamestown and the William Drummond plantation site in James City County, Virginia.
