Printed Pearlware/Whiteware Base Sherd

(1815 - 1859)

A blue transfer-printed base sherd from a flatware vessel. The surface decoration likely uses a version of the popular "Tendril Pattern," a motif popularized by Benjamin Adams that featured a circular center with a stylized flower motif surrounded by tendrils with additional stylized flowers and leaves. Several unknown makers produced variants of the design, making it difficult to date definitively.
