Richmond Town was the governmental center of Staten Island in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the mid-20th century, Historic Richmond Town was created which celebrates centuries of American life and is open to the public and includes several New York City Landmarks. Multiple archaeological campaigns have occurred at this site and the NYC Archaeological Repository has one box related to an archaeological field school.
