Four-In-Diamond Smoking Pipe Stem

The clay smoking pipe stem is decorated in a four-in-diamond, fleur-de-lis pattern inside of a lozenge-shaped cartouche with a line of rouletting. Fleur-de-lis pipes were popular in New Amsterdam/York in the 17th century. Examples have been found in key archaeological excavations in Manhattan, including the 7 Hanover Square, Stadt Huys, and Broad Financial Center projects.
