Rouletted White Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jug

(1720 - 1785)

Three base and body sherds from an unusual white salt-glazed stoneware jug with a light taupe colored paste. The exterior has multiple wavy rouletted lines with a thin coating of brown opalescent brown slip. There are visible turn rings on the light brown slipped interior. Possibly a variant of Nottingham-type stoneware. The vessel consists of two sherds that mend but are not mended and one sherd that does not mend but is likely from the same vessel.
