Painted Tin-Glazed Earthenware Tile

(1600 - 1800)

One fragment of a tin glazed (delft) tile. There is a white tin glaze on the face of the tile with a painted cobalt (blue) design, possibly of a person. Mortar or cement is attached to the back surface. Discolored and possibly burned. May be associated with the Great Fire of 1835 in New York City.
