City Hall Park, New York, NY (2010)

Excavations at New York's City Hall Park in 2011 produced artifacts and features from the 18th through 20th centuries. Many of these come from the Revolutionary War period when the park was the site of British barracks, an almshouse and several prisons. Of note are the 19th-century brick features associated with City Hall, which was built in 1803-1811. The archaeological collection is within the NYC Archaeological Repository and has been partially included in the database available through this website.
